Independent healthcare practices are the heart of our communities. They deserve a web presence that fights as hard as they do.
Growing up in the Bay Area, we watched independent practices get squeezed. Corporate chains with deep marketing budgets and SEO teams started showing up first on Google, pulling patients away from local doctors who had been serving their communities for decades. The clinical care at independent practices was often better. The web presence almost never was.
For Colin, this wasn't just an observation. His father has run an independent optometry practice in San Jose for years — the kind of practice that earns patient loyalty the old-fashioned way. Seeing practices like that fall behind online, not because of anything they did wrong but because they never had the right support, is what drove us to build Karat.
Karat was founded by Colin Chow and Gavin Coladonato, two Bay Area natives with roots in healthcare and biotech.

We're not a generic web agency that learned healthcare by reading about it. We came from inside it.
Karat builds and fully manages custom websites for independent healthcare practices. We handle everything — design, development, hosting, updates, and SEO — so practice owners never have to think about their website again.
Every site we build is custom to the practice. No shared templates, no DIY dashboards, no learning curve. Just a website that works, maintained by a team that understands your world.
If that resonates, we'd love to talk.
For private healthcare practices. No spam, ever.
